(Cinet)- On the morning of November 17, Kien Giang Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ethnic Minority Committee, People’s Committee in Go Quao organized the opening ceremony of Festival of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Kien Giang.
The festival attracted a large number of artisans, artists and athletes from Khmer-inhabited districts such as Tri Ton, Tinh Bien and Thoai Son.
Some activities consist of as follows: art festival with a participation of music troupes, Khmer art troupe of Kien Giang; trade fair introducing some products of a good quality; photo exhibition; some cuisine stale together with some advertisement. Racing tournaments attracts to 20 groups from Go Quao, Giong Rieng, Tan Hiep, Chau Thanh, An Bien, Vinh Thuan, U Minh Thuong and “ghe go” festival appeal 31 groups.
Thousands of local people in the Bay Nui area came to support Khmer farmers playing football and volleyball. An exhibition featuring the Khmer’s daily life and traditional customs, culinary arts, dances and folk games were also held during the festival.
On an occasion, there are 3 individuals of Go Quao that the MOCST honoured a medal for development of culture, sports and tourism by some contributions of some fields.
The Festival closes on November 18.
