The Yen Tu Pagoda Spring Festival opened in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh on Feb. 1, the tenth day of the first lunar month, in the presence of Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan.

The Lim Festival 2012 will take place on February 3rd and 4th, 2012 (12th and 13th of the first month of the lunar new year), and promises to establish a record for the festival with the largest number of people wearing the Quan ho costume and singing the same folk songs (with 2000 people scheduled to participate).

A traditional festival to pray for peace and happiness began yesterday at Huyen Tran Cultural Centre in Hue.

According to legend, the wrestling festival in the village of Lai An, also known as Sinh, in Phu Mau Commune, Phu Vang District, Thua Thien-Hue Province has existed for over 500 years. It is considered the greatest and oldest martial arts festival in the South.

Nationwide, tens of thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhist followers and tourists have flocked to pagodas and Spring festivals at the beginning of the new year, wishing for peace, good weather, happiness and prosperity for all people.
