The Lim Festival 2012 will take place on February 3rd and 4th, 2012 (12th and 13th of the first month of the lunar new year), and promises to establish a record for the festival with the largest number of people wearing the Quan ho costume and singing the same folk songs (with 2000 people scheduled to participate).

The festival is held at Lim Town and nearby communes in Bac Ninh province, including Noi Due and Lien Bao.

As usual, the Lim festival continues its traditional rituals, including important rituals at Duke Nguyen Dinh Dien’s tomb and Hong An temple.

According to Mr. Tran Quang Nhi, Deputy Director of Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Lim Festival, one of the most famous spring festivals in the north of Vietnam, is a cultural specialty of Bac Ninh province, the homeland of Quan ho folk singing.

Mr. Tran Quang Ung, the chief organiser of Lim festival 2012, said the upcoming event promises to establish a record for the festival with the largest number of people wearing the Quan ho costume and singing the same folk songs.

As a spring festival where people come to relax and to celebrate the Lunar New Year, the Lim Festival offers tourists numerous exciting folk games such as swinging, breaking the clay pot, human chess, and cock fighting. Traditional cultural activities for the spring season, like calligraphy and poetry review are also expected.
