(Cinet)- 8th Hue Festival will be held in the central Thua Thien-Hue province with a participation of 37 countries next month.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh has requested local authorities to successfully organise the biennial event which features solidarity and promotes the traditional cultural values of countries around the world, especially ASEAN nations.

During a working session in the central Thua Thien-Hue province on March 24, the minister noted that the festival is an opportunity to explore the central region’s tourism potential.

According to the organizers, apart from performing onstage, the foreign art troupes will also take part in performances in several rural and mountainous areas.

There’ll also be promotion performances on Hue’s streets in the afternoons while the festival is running.

The 2014 Hue Festival will feature Hue’s court music, which was recognized by the UNESCO in 2003, along with the city’s signature folk melodies.

As many as 68 art troupes from 38 countries worldwide have confirmed they will join the festival which will be larger than previous events.

Vietnam will, for the first time, welcome world famous guests such as Brazil’s Sururu Na Roda band, Japan’s Bati-Holic drum troupe, and the Palestinian folk dance group Asayel.

The Hue Festival has established its name after its seven seasons and grown to be a time-honored and contemporary art rendezvous for locals and foreigners.

Entrance to the Dem Hoang Cung (Courtly night) including a royal feast costs VND2 million (US$94), the highest at this year’s festival. Tickets to the festival opening, art programs, “ao dai” (traditional Vietnamese long gown), the closing show, range from VND100,000 to VND300,000.
