(Cinet)- Can Tho People’s Committee has approved a program, named” Building and developing culture and information from now to 2010 and vision until 2020.
Due to that, cultural institutions will be built as follows: Constructing Tay Do cultural center and Can Tho culture and information center - natural landscape area or center of recreational and cultural service; Building Can Tho University of Culture - a human resource training center on culture and information for the Mekong river delta;
Building historical and cultural Museum for the Mekong river delta – a historical and cultural exhibition, preservation and study center of ethnic groups in the Mekong river delta; building a modern library at national level; Building a general artistic Theatre; and setting up a center of telecommunications
In addition, this program promotes cultural activities such as professional art, forms of public culture; builds a cultural life; creates high quality intangible cultural products imbued with the national character of the Mekong river delta….
The total amount of investment capital in this program “Developing Can Tho culture and information from now to 2020” is 6,500 billion VND, of which capital source financed by the central is 1, 859 billion; local capital is 2,075 billion VND and capital from social strata is 2, 622 billion
