(Cinet)- Special chemicals are marked by Institute of Criminal Science for a large number of valuable and rare antiques in big domestic museum. In fact, this is “the National Precious Thing”

Doctor Dang Van Bai, Director of Department of Cultural Heritage said, “Vietnam now has 35 archaeological vestiges; 1,231 historical vestiges; 1,133 artistic architecture vestiges; 117 kinds of museums and 88 cultural and natural sceneries archiving nearly 2 millions of objects (not including antiques and worshipping objects in the inferior of cultural and historical vestiges and a great deal of private-owned antiques)”

As a colossal cultural heritage, appropriate authorities have much difficulty in managing, protecting and maintaining antiques, especially the National Precious Thing” for years.

A system of museum cadres are appointed to locals to inspect and enumerate objects in temples, pagodas, shrines, museums; and encourage private collectors to make a list of antiques.

However, every year, Department of Public Security and Customs still discovers, seizes and keeps approximately 700 illegally overseas sold –purchased or exported antiques. Beside that, regulative documents, violation treatment measures and awarding policies for useful people in preserving cultural heritages exist many hard problems.

For example, Police of Quang Ninh province discovered seized and kept 18 non-original antiques, of which nine bronze statues, a bronze bell… However, after proving this problem, investigators have not yet received feedback from locals on these antiques,

Doctor Pham Quoc Quan, Director of Vietnam Historical Museum, a difficult thing of protecting and maintaining antiques depends on management measure. Several antiques are seized and kept and then are sent to the Council to appraise antiques, assess date, value and historical meanings. However, not any statues, censers and handwritings are illustrated to depend on Vestige A and Museum B.

Deputy Director of Institute of Criminal Science of Ministry of Public Security, Nguyen Van Ho said, “After antiques are checked and enumerated, their files with parameters are stored in storing system; marked and identified codes through specialized machine system. If any antiques do not appear technical parameters compared to marked ones, they will be exchange fraudulently or artificial.

This measure can help management departments to archive and master exact information; seek the origin of antiques as quickly as possible if any problems like risk, loss…

Marking does not have effect on value, antiques’ form, some machine, including modern equipment, which is hard to identify hallmarks. Additionally, marked chemicals at various points on antiques can seize and keep until 50 years, but not fading.
