Vietnam’s "Ao dai" introduced at ASEAN-China fashion show

(Cinet) – An ASEAN-China fashion show and exhibition take place in Beijing (China) on April 08, as part of activities beginning the 2014 ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year.

The exhibition displayed hundreds of costumes of famous designers from 10 ASEAN member countries in the Chinese Museum of Women and Children.  Designer Lan Huong is representing Vietnam at the event: "I  carefully prepared for the event, where I introduced a collection of silk Ao dai made in Hanoi’s Van Phuc craft village and decorated with hand-made embroidery patterns by artisans from Khuat Dong village in Thuong Tin.”

Meanwhile, Vietnamese artisans from Van Phuc and Quat Dong traditional trade villages are introducing visitors to making silk and embroidery cloth.

Catwalk performances have also been organised to entertain visitors and help them understand more about the beauty of each country’s fashion.

On this occasion, a dialogue on costume culture development will be held for designers from participating countries.

The exhibition will last until April 17.
