The first singing festival for business people will be held at the Voice of Vietnam’s (VOV) theatre on October 8 and 9 as part of the activities to celebrate Vietnamese Businesspeople Day (October 13).

The event, co-organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), VOV’s Music, Information and Entertainment Channel, the “Dien Dan Doanh Nghiep” (the Vietnam Business Forum) newspaper and the Speed Media Communication and Marketing Company, is designed to improve cultural and spiritual life among businesses and businessmen in Vietnam.

Speaking at a press conference on October 6, Nguyen Thuy Duong, Vice Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Business Forum who is also a member of the jury, said many businesses have registered for this long-awaited contest but the organisers cannot accept all of them due to time and space constraints.

During the qualifying round last September, 86 items were chosen to take part in the final round. The top 15 will be selected to perform on the night of October 9 and five of these will be performed in a ceremony held by VCCI to honour 100 entrepreneurs at the National Convention Centre.

The festival will also salute successful businesses and entrepreneurs such as Doan Quoc Thai, General Director of Rong Vang Limited Company, Hoang Lan, General Director of Y Lan Sand Painting Company, and Nguyen Van Binh, General Director of Viet Nhat Joint Stock Company.

The jury will include famous singers and song-writers such as composer An Thuyen, Vice chairman of the Vietnam Composers Association, journalist Pham Tuyet Minh, Director of VOV’s Music, Information and Entertainment Channel, journalist Nguyen Thuy Duong, Vice Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Business Forum, Meritorious Artist Viet Hoan and singer Minh Anh.

The festival will be held annually to promote exchanges and cooperation among businesses and entrepreneurs. After the event, the organisers will launch a campaign to compose songs to build the image of business people as “soldiers in peacetime”.
