(Cinet)- Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recently made a decision about promulgating the model Regulation on the University Library’s organization and operation.
The model regulation stipulates the organization, operation, infrastructure and operational expense of the University Library. Therefore, based on scale and assigned functions and duties, the University Library can set up such professional and expert faculties as exchange Supplementation, document Treatment, Reading, document Maintenance, Information and Directory, Informatics, Administration-General.
This regulation applies to Libraries of Universities, Institutes, and Public and Private Colleges. Particularly, the regulation isn’t applied to foreign-invested University Libraries.
The regulation also stipulates University Libraries’ functions: supporting teaching, studying, training and scientific research works; carrying out the application of scientific and technological advances and the management work of the Universities via using and exploiting documents in their libraries (handwriting documents, printing, duplicating, carving on all materials, electronic documents, Internet…). Also, University Libraries have the following duties: Advertising managing directors and university principals to develop planning work and make short-term & long-term operational plans of Libraries; organizing and managing the overall information system, documents and libraries in the Universities; supplementing and developing domestic and international information sources which meet the demands of teaching, studying, doing scientific research and transferring hi-technologies in the Universities; implementing treatment organization, arranging, archiving, maintaining and managing documents, and facilitating proper search system; doing the administrative work well, directing readers to exploit, seek and use documents and information-library service products via libraries’ serving ways….
