About Lam Dong

(Cinet)- Lam Dong is a mountainous province located in South Central Highland Region and has a high economic growth rate and a potential market.
The province has borders Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provincies in the East, Dong Nai  province in the West,  Binh Thuan in the South and Southeast, Dak Lak province in the North. The province covers an area of 9.772,19 square kilometres, and its population was 1.169.851 peoples (according to statistic in 2005).

Cultural Heritage
Lam Dong preserved many vestiges of culture and history of ethnic groups. Over the years, many historic sites have been approached and researched. The most famous relic is the ancient villages of Cat Tien with traditional industries of forging shapes, casting copper, weaving, with temples and tombs characteristic of the cultural identity of  Dong Nai, Oc Eo and Phu Nam cuture.
The long house of ethnic minorities here was an unique cultural heritage. These houses are occupied by members of a family, the places of storing and showing the gongs - precious antique jars which the people here respect and preserve as "sacred and valuable property".
Other famous cultural and historical monuments are Palace I, Palace II, Palace III, the Palace Hotel; Linh Son Pagoda in Linh Phong town; Truc Lam Monastery; Cam Ly Cathedral, the Patriotic Martyrs' Cemetery; ancient tomb of the Ma.
The cultural and spiritual values in Lam Dong are also very rich and expressed by especially the festivals (Gong Festival, buffalo sacrifice festival...), folklores (in diverse genres (legends, fairy, comedy, fable, prose...) and various contents).

Performing Arts
Folk music in Lam Dong is very diversified. The indigenous people use many musical instruments made of different materials and unique methods. The monotony of the tunes (including singing, responsive singing, narratives, dual love singing) is in place of the graceful, expressive, familiar words, the breath of gongs, trumpets...compatible with each lissom dance step.
It is folk music that contributes to enriching the cultural spirit of the indigenous peoples.
Destination
Lam Dong is considered as an ideal destination for tourists, one prominent is Da Lat with Tuyen Lam lake resorts, Suoi Vang - Dankia resorts, Valley of Love, Datanla waterfall Dankia, Prenn, Pongour waterfalls, B'ri Dam waterfall, Lang Bian mountain.
The system of waterfalls and rich vegetation was also a strength of Lam Dong to develop the tourism in areas of sightseeing tours, entertainment tourism, tourist resorts, ecotourism, health resorts, eco- tourism, cultural and sport tourism, etc.
The villages, festivals and dishes identical of  the peoples of Lam Dong province are good points to create an ideal destination for tourists.
