The world's first international art biennale solely for female artists will kick off in Korea this week, featuring works by more than 400 leading artists from around the world and dedicated to showing social structures that frame women's lives, organizers said Monday (Nov.5).

The Incheon Women Artists' Biennale will begin in Incheon, 40 kilometers west of Seoul, Saturday to run until the end of December, a spokesman for the organizing committee said.
Among the works to be displayed are those of American conceptual artist Barbara Kruger, French sculptor Niki de Saint Phalle and German painter Kathe Kollwitz.
The event titled "Knocking on the Door" aims to display the social structures and ideologies that frame modern women and their lives.
Korea is also the host of the Gwangju Biennale, the largest art festival in Asia, held every two years in the southwestern city of Gwangju.
