1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi to be imposing and solemn

The National Steering Committee for the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long has introduced the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi in the 2008-2010 period, including the great anniversary to be held at the National Convention Center and Ba Dinh square on November 10th, 2010.

As scheduled, at six o’clock on November 10th, 2010, all temples, pagodas, churches and schools nationwide will ring bells and beat drums to celebrate the 1000th founding anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.
At 7a.m, leaders of the party, state, Hanoi city and 63 provinces and cities will offer incense at the Temple of Literature and Ly Thai To temple, and pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.
A great meeting will be held at the National Convention Center.
A continuous anniversary will take place at 7.30 p.m at Ba Dinh square.
The anniversary will draw the participation of 1000-people chorus with 1000 drums, 1000 children and 100 lion dance groups.
The event will express sentiment and moral philosophy “when drinking water, remember its source” of Vietnamese people to their ancestors. It will be an opportunity to glorify cultural and historical values of the nation, said Nguyen Sinh Hung, member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minster and head of the National Steering Committee for the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.
There is a need to focus onn key works such as Thang Long royal citadel center, Co Loa relic site, several museums and urban transportation infrastructure.
Hanoi also needs to check works to be completed and other works to be started on the occasion of November 10th, 2010.
The National Steering Committee for the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi will meet every quarter.
