Plan to organize 2nd National Mong ethnic festival

(Cinet)- Official Dispatch No. 811/KH-BVHTTDL on March 16, 2016 relates to Plan to organize the  2nd National Mong ethnic festival in Ha Giang province in 2016.

The festival aims to honur some traditional values and culture of Vietnamese ethnic minority groups of the mountainous areas to tourists to preserve their unique culture.This is an annual venue for panpipe artists in Dong Van Karst Plateau to meet, exchange, and present great performances to the audience. Visitors to the event were offered a chance to enjoy Khen (pan pipe) performances, experience local life and participate in folk games.
The festival is co-organized by some functional agencis of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, some sectors in Ha Giang province, some Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism to participate into the festival under direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee.
The Festival consists 17 provinces of the Mong ethnic groups: Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Cao bang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Son la, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe AN, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong.
Themed “Maintaining and developing ethnic culture of Mong ethnic group in the renwal period –integration and development of the country”, the festival officially take place on 2 days, estimated before October 15, 2016 in Dong Van district, Ha Giang province.
The festival will comprise Mong traditional, cultural and sports activities. There will be a costume show, folk singing, and a cooking contest, where Mong culinary specialties will be introduced. Art performances featuring the diversified culture of Mong people living in Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark took place during the festival. At the festival’s opening ceremony, an announcement will be made about the cultural heritage of the Mong being recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage.Pan-pipe is a traditional instrument of the H’Mong community, which holds an important position in their cultural and spiritual lives. The sound of pan-pipes also serves as a bridge linking H’Mong men with their partners.
