China will further reform the culture sector in a bid to improve creativity and provide better cultural products to the people, said State Councilor Chen Zhili.

As a key part of the reform, the government will work more to build up a management system that is more flexible and can spur the talents of the artists, Chen said in the past week when visiting several state-run performance troupes including the National Ballet of China, China Opera and China National Symphony Orchestra.

State-run performance troupes have played an important role in the country's artistic life, she said. "They shall lead the cultural trend of the country, work out more quality production and give more performances."

They are also encouraged to conduct promotions so that more people will enjoy their works, she said.

The government will continue support for state-run troupes to improve facilities and subsidies to outstanding artists, she said.
