PM appoints Steering Board heads for Hanoi’s 1000th anniversary

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has appointed Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung as head of the National Steering Board for the 1000th Thang Long – Hanoi Anniversary.

The board has two vice heads, Nguyen The Thao, Chairman and Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.

On January 13, a giant countdown clock was inaugurated in central Hanoi which will count down the 900 days left until the 1000^th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi - October 10, 2010.

From 2008 to 2010, Hanoi will build 38 monuments and buildings to celebrate its 1000^th anniversary, including the Hanoi Museum, investment capital VND2.1 trillion.
