A group of Vietnamese filmmakers from Television Film Studios (TFS) recently embarked on a trip to the countries along the Himalayas to shoot The Ganges River’s Mystery, a 50-episode documentary on the sacred river of the Hindustani people.

The group, headed by director Du Hoang, whose Mekong Itinerary was recently honoured with Viet Nam Cinema Association’s Golden Kite Award for best documentary, will take audiences down the river, named after the Indian goddess Ganga, to numerous tourist locations and historical vestiges scattered around India, Bangladesh and Nepal.

This new documentary is an attempt by TFS to produce a hit TV series that will grab the attention of a larger audience, just as Railway Itinerary and Amazon Itinerary have done. The documentary filmmakers will shoot more scenic locations and add more details to The Ganges River’s Mystery, making it all the more striking.

According to the director, the filming process would be easier with the participation of Trinh Thanh Cuong, an experienced tour guide from Saigontourist who has spent many years living near the Indian river’s basins.

All 50 episodes will be broadcast in Viet Nam. The first episode will be aired on HCM City Television’s HTV7 at 9pm on November 15.
