Nha Xa silk trade village

Nha Xa village's cloth and silk product ranked the second after Ha Dong silk. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the silk traders from Sai Gon-ChoLon had great belief in fine, shining silk of this village. For a long bin, Nha Xa weaving village, of MocNam Commune (Duy Tien) have done this professional village to better off the life, and warm up the belief of countrymen and foreigners.

At the transition to market mechanism of the country the weaving frames were divided to each household. In 1993, the village invested nearly 200 million dongs to build up the electricity grid reaching every house. With electricity, the village because more exciting, releasing labourer from much muscle work, doubling the production output and enlarging the width of the clothe and silk from 0.3-0.8 meter to 1-1.2 meter.

At present Nha Xa weaving village has 230 households, of nearly 800 people, including 350 major labourer, operating nearly 200 weaving machine. Many large families having many labourers had well organized the production and owned 2 or 3 weaning machines at home. Those families often had a complete production line from purchasing raw material to trading products. Their markets are big cities like Ha Noi, Hue, Da Nang, Sai Gon.

In recent years, the trade village has applied natural labour division characterising by specialisation in both commodity and production. The average salary is between VND 300,000 – 400,000/month/person. The value of the weaving industry inherited from the ancestor is making use of the labour not only in the village but also in surrounding areas.

Though there are difficulties in production capitals and markets, the production dimension continues to industrially expand and is gradually modernised. Many households continue to install new looms or to replace wooden frame with iron frame for long-term operation. Particularly, people in the weaving village are quickly aware of the taste of customers to change their products. Many new products have been introduced such as tussore, raw silk, flower-decorated silk and linen. The quality and design of the products continue to be improved. From Nha Xa, the weaving industry has expanded to other places including Lanh Tri, Chuyen Ngoai, Hoa Mac and Dong Van creating employments and incomes for hundreds of households. 

 

 

Nha Xa trade village is wholeheartedly with the inherited valuable traditional profession from the ancestors. On sunny days, walking on wide stone-paved roads with solidified buildings which are increasing in number, in the lively shuttle noise, watching hanging colourful silk clothes, anyone of us will be happy for the prosperity of the trade village during the market open period.
