About Ninh Thuan


 
(Cinet)- Ninh Thuan is a province in the coastal Southern Central region, located in an important geographic position between the 3 major economic regions including Southern Central region, Southeastern region and Central Highlands.

Ninh Thuan had a population of 565,700 in 2009. Its urban population was 185,700 or 32.3% in 2007, a rapid increase from the 123,700 seven years ago. The urban population grew by an average 6% from 2000 to 2007, while the rural population actually had slightly negative growth. Overall population growth averaged 1.5%, which is the second highest in the South Central Coast after Da Nang.
 
Cutlural Heritage and Festival
About cultural heritage, Ninh Thuan also converses many cultural and historical monuments and "Cham" traditional trade villages with the national character. Also, some archaeologists discovered some ancient tombs of stone and iron in Sa Huynh culture 2500 years ago. Therefore, the province is a destination to keep some heritages and Champa culture, including writing, folk song, dancing, weaving and sculpture.
There are over 100 festivals, including Kate festival in Cham tower in July as a special event for local people and a typical culture of Vietnam.

 
Performing Arts
About performing arts, Ninh Thuan is famous for Cham festival. The Cham people in Ninh Thuan still preserve several unique folk festivals as Kate, Ramawan, Rija Nagar and have two traditional villages – the My Nghiep weaving village and the Bau Truc pottery village.The Cham people in Ninh Thuan have three religious communities, including the two main religions of Cham Ahier (Brahmanism) and Cham Awal (Ba Ni religion) and Cham Islam (Orthodox Islam). In 22 Cham villages, there are 15 Brahmanism villages and Ba Ni villages.
Destination
Ninh Thuan belongs to tourism triangles: Dalat- Nha Trang- Phan Rang. Coming to there, tourists are able to relax in Ca Na Tourist Site, swim in Ninh Chu Beach, Vinh Hy Bay, climb to Da Trang Mountain, and observe natural animals in Phan Rang Reservation, or visit Pi Nang Tac Stone Trap.
