About Ha Nam

(Cinet)- Ha Nam located in the Red River Delta has been a growing province so far and not fullfilled all its potentials and strengths yet.

Ha Nam borders Ha Noi in the East, Hung Yen and Thai Binh provincies in the East, Ninh Binh in the South, Nam Dinh in the South and Hoa Binh province in the West.  The province covers an area 860,5 square kilometres, and its population was 790,000 peoples (according to statistic in 2009).
Cultural and tourism resources
As the place of the wet rice civilization, Ha Nam has a quite unique and rich folk culture expressed by traditional operetta - Chau Văn singing, ceremonial songs and folk songs.
Ha Nam has many traditional festivals and historic sites.
Bamboo Temple Festival is usually held from 6th to lunar February 10th in Thi Son commune, Kim Bang district.
Doi Son Pagoda Festival is organized in Doi Son commune, Duy Tien district on 21st lunar March. Doi Son Pagoda in honour of Buddha, King Le Dai Hanh, Y Lan Imperial Concubine, and King Le Thanh Tong.
Spring Ploughing Festival taking place in Doi Son, Duy Tien reminds people to the historical event that King Le Dai Hanh Emperor Le Dai Hanh created the first furrow to start a new crop.

Tran Thuong Temple worships King Tran Hung Dao. Each year, Tran Thuong temple also organizes the festival form the 20th of of lunar August to the 8th of lunar February. It is one of the major festivals of Ha Nam province aimed at remembering the great national hero with his great contribution, promoting national cultural identity, communicating, educating young generations of patriotic culture and anti-invader traditions.
Ha Nam has many historical sites and beautiful landmarks such as Kem Trong Bay, Truc Temple, Ba Danh Pagoda, Lang Temple.
Kem Trong Bay has limestone mountains on two sides and Day river flows through it, which forms the romantic landscape of mountain and sea.
Truc Temple and Ngu Dong Son (five grottoes) 7 km from Phu Ly is the place of the legend that After wining, on the way back to the military, Ly Thuong Kiet stopped here for worshiping and celebrating. In order to remember the historical period, the people built the temple at the bottom of the Cam mountains as the name of Truc Temple. In the mountains, there is Ngu Dong Son includes five grottoes with the depth of over 100 meters.
Opposite Ngoc Mountain, Ba Danh Pagoda has  an extremely quiet and poetic landscape and is situated on the bank of the Day River.
Temple Lang worships the King Dinh Tien Hoang, King Le Dai Hanh, ect.

Ha Nam has other destinations like Long Doi Pagoda.
So far, Ha Nam hasn’t developed all potentials available for the development of its tourism and economy because the province has mainly based on the production of agriculture, industry and handicrafts.
