About Dak Lak

(Cinet)- Dak Lak is located in the central Highlands - one of the cradles for the cultural space of the Central Highlands gongs recognized by UNESCO as Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Dak Lak borders Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provincies in the East, Lam Dong and Dak nong  in the South, Campuchia in the West . The province covers an area 13.125,4 square kilometres, and its population was 1.771.800 peoples (according to statistic in 2011).

Dak Lak has a diverse cultural identity expressed by the oldest epic of Dam San- Xinh Nha including thousands of sentence, languages of the Ede, M'Nông.., the famous tangible cultural heritages such as rock music, instruments, gongs, E de long house architecture, tomb architecture, working tools such as brocatelle weave, carved statuary, ect.
Dak Lak is considered as one of the cradles for the cultural space of Central Highland gongs, recognized by UNESCO as the masterpieces of the oral and intangible cultural heritage.
The ethnic Ede, M'nông, J'rai, Se Dang, Bru-Van Kieu have stored over 2,300 sets of gongs. This is one of the local ethnic minority preserving the most gongs in the Central Highlands. Gongs is a symbolic culture associated with spiritual belief of Dak Lak.
Dak Lak has notable festivals held annually such as Gongs Festival, Buffalo fighting Festival, Coffee Festival...Its historical monuments are known as Lac Giao Temple, Sac Tu Khai Doan Pagoda, ect.

For ethnic minorities in Central Highlands in general and in Dak Lak province in particular, gong perfomances become the distinctive cultural identity. The sound of gongs makes boys and girls involved in dances enthusiatically and all communities inspired in the village festivals, which is the most prominent folklore of many ethnic groups in Dak Lak province.
Destination
Dak Lak province is one of the tourism potentials of Vietnam with many monuments, landscapes and diverse cultural traditions such as Ban Don famous as a world-class tourism destination with traditions of hunting and taming wild elephants and Buon Ma Thuot regarded as one of the "coffee capital".
Dak Lak is characteristic of silver waterfalls such as D’ray Sap, Gia Long, Trinh Nu in the old forest, Serepok river, Yordon National Park, Lak Lake, ect.
When visitors go to Dak Lak, they can stay in many famous hotels such as Sai Gon Ban Me hotel, Dam San Hotel and enjoy delicious specialities such as deer meet, alcohol made of plants, leaf hotpot, a raw fish and leaves, ect.
