(Cinet)- The city is an independent municipality at the same level as provinces of Vietnam, and is located on the South bank of Hau river. Known as a nuclear urban of the Southwest Viet Nam since French colonical, the city is maintaining the title “ economic center of the Mekong Delta”.
Can Tho covers an area of 1,409 square kilometers and it had  a popular of 1,214,100 people as of 2012.  Situated 169 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City,  128 kilometers from Rach Gia city as well as 178 kilometers from Ca Mau city, Can Tho is nicknamed “ western capital” . The city of Can Tho is divided into nine districts: Ninh Kieu, Binh Thuy, Cai Rang, O Mon, Thot Not, Phong Đien District, Co Đo, Vinh Thanh, Thoi Lai District. The city is home of some ethnic groups, including the Vietnamese, the Chinese, Kh’mer.
Cutural Resources 
In terms of the cultural resources, Can Tho owned the common characteristic of Mekong Delta as well as the typical characteristic of  “the capital of the West”. There are plentiful of the cultural relics and heritages recognized, among of them, 10 relics is ranked by Nation, 12 relics in the provincial rank list. Some of them has to be counted, which are Nam Nha Pagoda, Phan Van Tri poetess tomb, Binh Thuy communal, Long Quang pagoda, Ong pagoda, “Duong” house of wordship.

Famous for the unique fork song, “ hue tinh “ singings, “cay” singings as well as “ mai dai” singings are originated from the lifestyle of Can Tho’s residents.
