This is an age-old tradition in Ke Chau village (Phu Cuong commune, Kim Dong district). Phu Hung Cuong is a fertile Red river delta alluvial region; its major agricultural product is sugar cane which is the main material for making the molasses. Before and during the subsidy period, the industrial white sugar was scarce; the molasses production prospered. The year with highest production attracted up to 500 labourers with the output of 1,000 tonnes and a turnover of between VND 2.5 – 3 billion.
(Cinet)- Pa Then’s women costumes are now almost preserved while men costumes are changed a lot. Most of Pa then men wear ready-made shirts, trousers. Only on wedding day, grooms wear chan que trousers (a kind of wide-legged pants that looked something like a skirt), black and white loosing-fitting shirts, 2 scarves crossing the chests and white belts.
At present, Lau mam folk dish in the past hundred years - become a luxurious specialty in the South. Chau Doc fish sauce made from fresh-water fish, a kind of sweet- smelling and greasy fish, which must be as required to have a delicious Lau mam dish.
