The hamlet is one of five old-age trade villages. Xam Duong people live mainly on bamboo weaving industry. The number of households engaging in home craft industry accounts for up to 80% of village population. That is the reason why Xam Duong people devote their life to the traditional industry.
"Cha ca" is a favourite dish of Hanoian. Located in Cha Ca street, Cha ca La Vong ("cha ca" means grilled fish) is the famous restaurant to many Hanoian as well as visitors from all over the world.
The Elephant Race Festival takes place in springtime, normally in the third lunar month. In preparation for the festive day, people take their elephants to places where they can eat their fill. Apart from grass their food also includes bananas, papayas, sugar canes, corns, sweet potatoes.
The Vietnam Army Museum is located on Dien Bien Phu Street in Hanoi. It was formerly the French expeditionary barracks and covers 10,000 m2 divided into 30 showrooms. It opened in December 1959. The Vietnam Army Museum contains objects and documents related to the establishment and development of the Vietnamese armed forces.
