The Giong Festival is held annually in Phu Dong village, Gia Lam district, Hanoi, on the 9th day of the 4th month of the lunar calendar. The date commemorates Saint Giong who defeated An invaders. In order to show their gratitude to the hero of Giong Village, who sacrificed his life to fight the invaders, people have proclaimed him Saint Giong.
Soc Trang province has been for years the habitat of people of the Viet, Hoa and Khmer ethnic groups. Among their so many traditional dishes, bun goi da a special noodle soup is one of the most appreciated by visitors.
Musk incense making is a hundred year-old tradition in Cao Tho, Bao Khe commune, Hung Yen town. There were some villages in the ancient Hung Yen making incense; there are currently only two areas maintaining this tradition: Ha village, Trai Trang commune, Yen My district that makes black incense but the dimension is small due to market shortage; and Cao village in Bao Khe commune, Hung Yen town makes musk incense.
An Do commune (Binh Luc) has a population of over 8,000 and 2,700 households. The commune has the steel file production industry – a unique profession which no other villages in Vietnam have.
