With summer remaining a peak travel period for Vietnamese travelers, this intentional mindset is translating into carefully curated trips as families and groups leverage school holidays and seasonal breaks to plan quick getaways and reconnect with loved ones. To uncover this summer's top travel trends, Booking.com, one of the world’s leading digital travel platforms, looked at search patterns for Vietnamese travelers booking stays from June 1, 2026 through August 31, 2026.

Domestic travel: Familiar destinations continue to lead

Vietnam’s coastal hubs dominate domestic summer searches offering an ideal landscape for summer relaxation, Da Nang remains a consistent favourite and emerges as the most searched domestic destination offering an ideal blend of city convenience and premium beachfront infrastructure, followed by Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City and Dalat. Meanwhile, destinations like Hoi An, Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon, and Ha Long maintain steady interest. This year’s search trends shows a shift towards familiar, convenient and relatively easy to plan destinations where they can maximize relaxation and minimize vacation friction.

Across all traveler types, beach destinations remain exceptionally popular this summer, with Da Nang ranking as the #1 most searched domestic destination across every traveler segment. At the same time, destinations such as Da Lat and Ho Chi Minh City continue to appear consistently across the board, suggesting a clear preference among families, couples, groups and solo travelers alike for well-rounded trips that balance relaxation, food, culture, and convenience.

International travel: Regional favorites lead, while emerging hotspots shape the summer map

Internationally, Asian destinations dominate summer searches among Vietnamese travelers, accounting for 9 out of the top 10 spots. Bangkok leads as the most-searched international destination, followed by Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

The data reveals notable shifts in specific destination rankings compared to last year. Busan has climbed from #39 to #10, entering the top 10 most-searched destinations. Similarly, Shanghai (#16 to #13), Siem Riep (#26 to #17) and Istanbul (#35 to #20) have both climbed in ranks as compared to last year. Outside of Asia, Paris stands as the sole long-haul destination to secure a spot in the top ten rankings for the summer period. Whether its cultural discovery, vibrant city life, shopping or beach getaways, these destinations cater to a wide range of Vietnamese travellers seeking varied interests this summer.
