Information and culture work take effect in ethnic-inhabited areas in Tuyen Quang province

After ten years of implementing Instruction No 39/1998/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister, culture and information work in mountainous and ethnic-inhabited areas in the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang has had a positive effect, contributing to improving cultural enjoyment for local ethnic minority people.

The cultural sector has carried out scientific research to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of ethnic minority groups in the province, including research on the traditional culture of the Tay, Cao Lan and San Diu ethnic minority groups, Cao Lan ethnic minority singing, San Diu ethnic minority singing, an investigation of intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minority groups in the province, traditional culture of Pa Then ethnic minority group in the province; projects to preserve culture impacted by the Tuyen Quang hydroelectricity project lake, and to reinstate traditional folk festivals of Tay, Dao and Cao Lan ethnic minority groups.
Thanks to these research projects, specific cultural values of ethnic minority groups have preserved and promoted to improve spiritual life for ethnic minority people and serve socio-economic development in the province.
Since 1998, the province has built 95 cultural houses. 1,586 village and communes have cultural houses. Since 2005, 64 village communal houses have been built, and 39 communal houses have been installed with equipment from the national objective programme on culture with a total investment of 554.6 million VND.
There are 115 commune-based post offices, 75 local radio stations and 8 mobile cinema groups to screen films for people in remote areas.
There are 5 district-level libraries, and 140 collections of legal books in communes and towns. Since 2006, the province has invested 334 million VND to build 37 collections.
