Vietnam chef competes at 2014 Asia Pacific Bocuse d’Or culinary contest

(Cinet)- Chef Nguyen Le Hoang Phat will participate into the 2014 Asia Pacific Bocuse d’Or culinary competition in Shanghai, China on June 26 and 27.

The Bocuse d'Or is a biennial world chef championship named for renowned French chef Paul Bocuse. 

At the competition, each team has five hours and 35 minutes to prepare two elaborate presentations, a meat dish, and a fish dish.

Five finalists of the regional round will continue to attend the international finale which is scheduled to take place in Lyon, France next year. The Vietnamese team is coach chef Michael Bao Huynh, President of Bocuse d'Or Vietnam chef David Thai, chef Nguyen Le Hoang Phat, and his assistant, Nguyen Huynh Thanh Long. It is one of the world's most prestigious cooking competitions and its finale will take place for two days near the end of January in Lyon. 

After its 20th anniversary, the format was expanded, with the first Bocuse d'Or Asia contest taking place in May 2008 in Shanghai and Bocuse d'Or Europe in July 2008 in Stavanger, Norway.
