Sweetener

Like 'xoi', sweetener is a Vietnamese traditional food and a companion of xoi. As when 'xoi' is mentioned, sweetener is readily understood to be there in 'xoi'. They are two but often considered as one.

Sweetener is cooked chiefly with sugar. There is always one or more ingredients to go with. For example if sweetener is made from 'xoi', it is called bee sweetener; from green bean, refined green bean sweetener; from black beans, black bean sweetener; from taro, taro sweetener.

In the recent years in Hanoi, Hue sweetener can be found in every street. Hue sweetener is prepared in Hue style with a variety of tastes, colour and flavours. Hanoians in general, students and pupils in particular are very fond of Hue sweetener.

Again like with 'xoi', you need only 1,000-2,000 VND to have a fantastic glass or plate of sweetener. You can eat it hot in Summer or cold in Winter.
