(Cinet)- The HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will host the first Ao Dai Festival at Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11 from March 8 to 9 to mark International Women’s Day.
The event aims to honors the traditional cultural features and charm of Vietnamese ao dai (long dress) as well as the beauty of Vietnamese ladies. The festival is also a chance to promote the fashion to tourists, an exchange between designers and the public as well as to add a touch of festivity to Women’s Day in the city.
The festival will display ao dai collections for the workplace as well as festivals and wedding ceremonies, together with accessories.
Models will showcase modern interpretations of ao dai fashions by renowned designers such as Si Hoang, Vo Viet Chung, Cong Tri, Viet Hung, Thuan Viet, Minh Tri, Hoai Sang and Minh Chau.
The HCM City War Remnants Museum will display ao dai designs worn during the war years in an exhibition titled Vietnamese Ao Dai Through Wars during the fair.
A workshop on the ao dai and a talk with designer Si Hoang to discuss ao dai will also be held.
The festival is expected to attract around 50,000 visitors.
