About Dak Nong

(Cinet)- Dak Nong located in the southwest gate of the Central Highlands is a land owning a quite diverse traditional culture with its distinctive identity.
 
Dak Nong borders Dak lak province in the North, Lam Dong province in the southeast, Binh Phuoc province and Cambodia in the West. The province covers an area of 6.514 square kilometres, and its population was 510.600 peoples (according to statistic in 2011).

Cultural Heritage
Dak Nong has 10 historical and cultural relics and landscapes rated of which nine at national level and one at provincial level. The prominent relics in Dak Nong are mostly associated with the war against the French and the United States such as Dak Mil Jail, a hisctoric revolutionary site, inter-province IV resistance base relic, the historic monuments of the movement against the French by M'nông ethnic group, ect.
The features of cultural treasure of Dak Nong are epics, the ancient traditions, house on stilts architecture, tomb statue, the traditional instruments such as rock instruments, gongs, ect.
With many ethnic minorities, besides many festivals, Dak Nong has diverse cultural treasures, which also contributes to make this province attractive to local and foreign tourists.

Performing Arts
The outstanding and unique art form of Dak Nong is gongs (the cultural space of the Central Highlands gongs recognized by UNESCO as Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage). Gongs Festivals are usually held annually. Dak Nong authority has put the gong art into school curriculum in order to preserve and promote this art.
Dak Nong also has a diversity of culture characterized by dances, ethnic folk songs, performances of traditional instruments (instrumental rock, rock gongs, T.rung instrument...)
Destination
Eco-tourism, cultural tourism experences aimed at the ethnic communities are emerging trends in Dak Nong.
