Vietnam’s M’Nong ethnic group boasts a long-standing tradition of writings, songs and folklore. Now on the brink of extinction, one man is making it his mission to save these precious epics.
After the success of the 2006 exhibition which specialized in lacquer paintings, another one – the first of it’s type – is being organised for silk paintings, It is scheduled to open to the public at the Fine Art Museum of Vietnam (66, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi) from December 20, 2007 – January 5, 2008.
Remembering heritage of his forefathers and frustrated with boring and unexpressive costumes,, Honoured Artist Hoang Viet began to rebuild the garb of tuong (classical drama of Vietnam) in 2004.
The US Consulate in HCM City and its partner, Can Tho Public Library, opened the US-Viet Nam Studies Corner at 1 Phan Dinh Phung Street in Can Tho City on November 15.
