(Cinet)- May 23rd, at the headquarter of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Thai, Chairman of Vietnam Olympic Committee chaired a meeting on the preparatory work for the Asian Indoor Games 3 (held in Vietnam in 2009)

Attending the meeting had representatives from Vietnam Olympic Committee: Vice Chairman – Nguyen Trong Hy, Vice Chairman cum General Secretary – Hoang Vinh Giang, Chief of the Secretariat – Tran Van Manh; and from General Department of Gyms and Sports: Deputy Chief of General Department – Vuong Bich Thang, Head Department of Sports and High achievement II – Tran Van Quynh, Chief of the Secretariat – Nguyen Hung Quan, Deputy Head Department of Planning and Finance – Nguyen Van Binh and other members under relevant units and Departments.

First, such major issues as marketing work and sponsor launching should be completed earliest which are also key contents of the 3rd meeting session. Based on signed provisions in the contract of hosting the Asian Indoor Games 3 and practices at Continent-leveled Congresses, the host country is responsible for contributing a small part of money to the Asian Olympic Council. This contribution rate revised under the Congress’s sponsor appealing capability is in compliance with 66% of the total revenue for the Organizing Board of the host country and 34% (in cash) of OCA (as known, Thai Lan – the host country of the Asian Indoor Games I and Ma Cau – the host country of the Asian Indoor Games II with the contribution rate of US$ 2.7million and US$ 3.5million respectively).

As for Vietnam, Leaders of the OCA made a preliminary calculation on its contribution expense with US$ 2.5 million. Due to the fact that types of sponsor mobilization aren’t popular in Vietna, so Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism hasn’t yet implemented the official signature with the OCA. Nevertheless, to complete these procedures early, Vietnam makes a plan for seeking experienced and well-known advisors in this field.

Making a conclusive speech at the meeting, Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Thai recorded all delegates’ positive working spirit and believed that related members will complete their assigned tasks well. Deputy Minister also ordered that staff problem should be revised and completed as soon as possible to conduct all the tasks in the latest period; competitive places will be officially decided after a delegation of inter-sector staffs has examined and surveyed infrastructure system at six locals. Particularly, holding new sports in Vietnam like Kurash, Kabadi, electronic Sports, Jejitsu, and Deputy Minister also said: “Towards integration spirit, solidarity, friendship and equal playing field, Vietnam absolutely agrees on putting new sports into the Congress’s competitive program. Nevertheless, Vietnam lacks experience in organization, Law, Referee, competitive equipment system…, and as a result, General Department of Gyms and Sports should positively coordinate with countries to discuss this problem. In case these countries don’t approve of assistance, we can’t organize all the new sports.”
