The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak is doing its best to advertise the upcoming Gong Festival 2007, a cultural event of the Central Highlands and Vietnam, which will commence on November 21.

The province has coordinated with the media, film studios, radio and TV broadcasting stations to provide updated information related to the Central Highlands Gong Festival 2007, held for the first time in Vietnam.

The Dak Lak Department of Culture and Information has delivered 10,000 pamphlets detailing the festival at all villages in the province and hung up thousands of banners, boards advertising the event on major streets of Buon Ma Thuot city, Don village, etc.

Over 3,500 handbooks about the gong festivals are being sent to grassroots administrations to help local people be aware of the importance of this cultural event in their province.

The national Vietnam Television provides updated news about the festival on its channel for ethnic minority groups in the Central Highlands, in six languages: Ede, Jorai, Bana, Sedang, K’Ho and M’Nong.

Many companies in HCM City have sponsored Dak Lak province in advertising the gong festival, totalling around VND500 million ($31,200).
