Italian ambassador shares love for Vietnamese women

Vietnamese women are the focus of a new photography exhibition by Italian Ambassador to Viet Nam Alfredo Matacotta Cordella.

The show, which opens today in Ha Noi, is part of the Italian cultural programme "Passion for Women" which runs until June this year.

Titled Faces of Vietnamese Women, the exhibition includes more than 30 portraits of women of all ages taken by the ambassador during his mission in Viet Nam.

The show opens at Module 7 Art Gallery (9 Au Co, Tay Ho, Ha Noi) at 6.30pm and will be held until February 4.

Alfredo Matacotta Cordella was born in Fermo (Marche, in central Italy) in 1943 and nurtured his passion for photography from an early age. Today his speciality is portraits, which he likes to present to his subjects as he feels that a beautiful photograph is one of the simplest and surest ways to give people a little joy.

The ambassador has held several other photos exhibitions in Viet Nam since he started working in the country in 2004.
