First silk paintings exhibition to be opened

After the success of the 2006 exhibition which specialized in lacquer paintings, another one – the first of it’s type – is being organised for silk paintings, It is scheduled to open to the public at the Fine Art Museum of Vietnam (66, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi) from December 20, 2007 – January 5, 2008.

155 silk paintings by 155 artists have been chosen from 700 paintings produced as part of the Silk Painting Creation Movement 2007 launched by the Fine Art and Photography Department to introduce the art to gallery-goers.

Paintings to be displayed contain images praising the country as well as the people in the periods of national construction and defence.

The activity was designed to not only highlight the traditional silk painting art but also develop the profession in Vietnam.

A conference on silk painting preservation and development will be organised on December 25 as part of the programme.
