(Cinet)- 15th May, Leaders of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism worked with Vietnam Olympic Standing Committee on the preparatory work of the 1st Asian Beach Sports Festival.
Attending the meeting included Nguyen Danh Thai – Standing Deputy Minister, Chairman of the VOC; Deputy Minister Huynh Vinh Ai; Nguyen Trong Hy – Deputy Ministe – Vice Chairman of the VOC; Doan Thao – Vice Principal of Committee of Gyms and Sports; Vuong Bich Thang – Deputy Chief of General Department of Gyms and Sports and Representatives of the Office of the VOC.
At the meeting, Leaders of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the VOC agreed that Vietnam will possibly send the best workforce to join the Festival. The contents of Sports competed by Vietnam Sports Delegation have to be calculated thoroughly to ensure achievements and use expenses efficiently. At present, it is expected that 177 representatives for Vietnam Sports Delegation will participate in this Festival. However, Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Thai suggested that a number of participants of Vietnam Sports Delegation should be revised to ensure the compliance of the practical conditions.
Leaders of the Ministry and the VOC considered carefully the arrangement of participants attending the Asian Beach Sports Festival, but to not affect the preparatory work of sportsmen who will take part in three important sports events: the 2008 Beijing, the 25th Sea Games (in Lao in 2009) and the 3rd Asean Indoor Games (in Vietnam). Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Thai ordered that regulatory Departments should research the above-mentioned problems thoroughly and assess the participation ability of each subject specifically. Sports subjects have to coordinate with Federations and Associations in selecting and training sportsmen.
Based on the Festival’s competitive Articles and the practical situation of sports workforce, General Department of Gyms and Sports will divide subjects into subgroups to carry out the preparatory work and identify participation people. Some subgroups of sports can win medals, for example Pencak Silat, Body-Building; some can attend such as Football, Volleyball, Swimming… and some can’t join like Yacht, wood Ball…
Several sports subjects such as Surfing, Sailing Surfing, …(being new in Vietnam and operated spontaneously or under the form of Clubs) will be considered for competition under the socialization mode. Establishing the Vietnam Sports Delegation to take part in the First Asean Beach Sports Festival is expected to be implemented in the mid of September 2008.
