How Vietnamese Families are making the most of Summer Travel in 2025

As the summer season approaches, Vietnamese families are gearing up for a well-deserved mid-year break. For 65%* of Vietnamese travellers who view travel as a great way to spend time together as a family, it’s evident that family vacations are going beyond just sightseeing-they’re moments for meaningful memories. Booking.com, one of the world’s leading digital travel platforms, reveals the key trends and insights that dives into the emerging trends redefining how families in Vietnam are traveling this summer.


Parents are building travel into their yearly routine

Vietnamese families are increasingly integrating travel into their annual routines, shifting its focus from mere sightseeing or leisure to deepening connections and emotional well-being. Booking.com’s Travel Trends 2025* reveals that Vietnamese families travel to spend quality time together, 88% feel it's important to travel to expose children to a variety of cultures and experiences and 59% travel to try new food and local delicacies. This mindset shift is also reflected in their planning, with 58% of Vietnamese parents prioritizing travel every year, regardless of circumstances. Furthermore, 41% intend to increase their travel spending in 2025 as compared to last year to create more intentional and fulfilling experiences with their loved ones.

The summer shortlist: What destinations are topping family searches

While Vietnamese families’ travel priorities are evolving, the destinations capturing the most attention for summer getaways remain largely consistent with beach (61%) and nature trips (59%) topping their list, followed by city trips (45%). This is reflected in Booking.com search data from June 1 to July 31, 2025 as well. Domestically, beachside escapes and nature-rich getaways are a summer favorite with Danang, Nha Trang, Dalat, Phu Quoc and Vung Tau among the most-sought after destinations for family stays. These destinations offer opportunities for relaxation and quality family time, catering to the needs of travelers across generations.

Looking at international travel, Booking.com's summer search data indicates that Singapore, Tokyo, and Bangkok remain favorites for Vietnamese families for the second consecutive year. Notably, a majority (8 out of 10) of the top searched international destinations are located within the Asia Pacific region, reaffirming that the region continues to remain popular for family getaways this June.
