​Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien welcomes Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism

(MOCST)- On September 5 in Ho Chi Minh City, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien received with the delegation of Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, led by Minister Bosengkham Vongdara.

At the meeting, Minister Bosengkham Vongdara highly appreciated the successful organization of International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City 2019 (ITEC HCMC 2019) and thanked Vietnam for creating favorable conditions for Laos to participate in the event. Lao Minister also suggested Vietnam continue to cooperate and support Laos in promoting cultural values and tourism, increasing the number of tourists to Laos...
The year of 2019 marks an important milestone of ITEC HCMC 2019, which is also further affirms Vietnam-Laos tourism cooperation.
For his part, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien noted the results of cooperation between the two countries, especially the exchanges on cultural and tourism activities. The Minister also said that the two countries should promote cooperation between localities and provinces bordering Vietnam and Laos.
At the request of the Lao side, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam instructed to coordinate and support Laos's cultural projects and foster the development of tourism between the two countries.
Regarding tourism cooperation, Vietnam is the second largest market to bring tourists to Laos with 867,585 arrivals in 2018 and reaching 468,632 arrivals in the first 6 months of 2019, up 11% over the same period in 2018.
