(MOCST)- Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent his congratulation to the national women's football team who won the ASEAN Football Federation Championship 2019.

The team outplayed hosts Thailand 1-0 in a nail-biting thriller on August 27 to claim the AFF Cup trophy for the third time in history.
PM Phuc said he appreciated the team's determination and bravery during the tournament and wished the squad good luck for future tournaments.
On the occasion, the PM also voiced his hopes that the men’s national team will build on their female colleagues’ success to obtain a positive result against Thailand in their World Cup qualifying match on September 05.
The team have been awarded VNĐ1.3 billion (US$56,000) from the VFF for their success, including VND300 million for the semifinal berth, VND400 million for reaching the final, and VND600 million for the overall crown.
