In 2012, the Sac Menh Chi Bao was discoverd at the Archaeological Excavation of tunnels and underground parkings in the Houses of Parliament. Accordingly, the wooden seal found in the Rose Garden was a flat square with the length of 10cm for each side and the thickness of 5cm. At the same time, it was divided into two parts when it was discovered.
The seal was actually made at the time of the Tran Dynasty and compared to other historical objects during the same reign. There have been a lot of debates from the public when the value of this wooden seal is reported and promoted because this object hasn’t been completely understood at the time of being found. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a meeting to address this issue, attracting some scientists and related bodies.
After hearing the report from the representatives of the Thang Long-Ha Noi Heritage Preservation Centre on the process of discovering, researching the Sac Menh Chi Bao and building on comments of scientists and related bodies, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed that Hanoi People’s Committee conducts the Thang Long-Ha Noi Heritage Preservation to make a project on researching the wooden seal “Sac Menh Chi Bao” in order to clarify the value more and plan to conserve this invaluable object in details.
