Organizing “Don ca tai tu” festival in the Southeast region in 2016

(Cinet)- Official Dispatch No.1032/QĐ-BVHTTDL promugated on March 21, 2016 relates to organize the “Don ca tai tu” festival in the Southeast region in 2016.

Accordingly, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism entrusts Basic Cultural Department to host and associate with Binh Duong provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, some locals and relevant agencies to organzie the “Don ca tai tu” festival in the Southeast region in 2016.

Art of Don ca tai tu music and song in the South of Viet Nam (also known as Don ca tai tu) is a specific folk art type of Viet Nam, developed in the South region in the late nineteenth century. People in Southern Viet Nam consider Don ca tai tu as an indispensible spiritual cultural activity in festivals, death anniversary rituals and celebratory social events like weddings and birthdays.
The festival aims to create more conditions for some artists and artisans in the province and city to meet and exchange in order to keep and develop the art form under recognition by the UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. It is a foundation for Binh Duong province to prepare for the second “Don ca tai tu” festival in 2017.
