The Ministry of Culture and Information deals with the Press violation

(Cinet)- According to Prime-Minister’s guidelines, the Ministry of Culture and Information examined and dealed with information published in Tienphong Newspaper in which reflects the situation of using public cars for individual purposes to go to Lim Festival of many provinces, cities and national agencies on February 28th 2007. Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Information has reported on examination and treatment results ( official document 1863/MoCI on May 23rd, 2007.

After receiving guidelines of MoCI, Tienphong newspaper has reported on this case and acknowledged that there are some mistakes in Tienphong newspaper on March 1st, 2007. The given information about using public car to go to Lim Festival of  many provinces, cities and national agencies on February 28th 2007 is not true. The correspondent of this newspaper made some mistakes in the process of investigation and collecting material. The public cars of these units aren’t used to go  to Lim festival.

To correct its mistakes, Tienphong Newspaper affirmed again that the released information is not true on March 5th 2007 and March 9th 2007; punished seriously to individual made mistakes, warned correspondents; punished correspondents by changing long-term contracts to short-term ones; criticized, sentenced to pay money, reduced competition results of Deputy Editor, Secretary of newspaper office, editors.The inspector of MoCI sentenced Tienphong Newspaper to pay a fine of 3 million Vietnam dong.
