The European Union financed about 10.8 Euro for the Vietnam Tourist human resource development project while the Vietnamese Government’s corresponding capital was 1.2 million Euro. The objective of this capital source is to recognize and enhance laborers’ basic service quality in the fields of travel and tourism. Recently, the Vietnamese Government and the European Union have approved expanding period of project implementation until the end of January 2010 ensuring quantitative and qualitative achievements as planned.
Up to now, the project has achieved initial results, which is very important for the project implementation. The project focuses on three groups of major results. The group of first result is to build a system of skilled workers at national level. The second is to formulate an institutional framework for strengthening capacity in the implementation of VTOS network which ensures sustainability after the project has been completed. The third is to harmonize a system of skilled workers at national level with another of the region and regional cooperation.
The project assists Tourist General Department in participating in cooperation activities and regional integration, great seminars such as ASEAN, APEC, PATA, ASEANTA, APETIT…aimed at obtaining the region’s recognition.
