“Next year, a big Ao dai centre will serve customers in Vietnam. It will be a place to gather young designers and those who are fond of the career and desire to honourably present Ao dai to the world with their ceaselessly unique creativeness,” exposed well-known designer Lan Huong.

To make the centre operative, Huong said, it is a must to actively and positively advertise and promote images of Ao dai in a broader way, so that more and more customers know about the unique dress of Vietnam, like and then buy them.

Foreign visitors, especially women, like Ao dai and look beautiful in them. So, a good centre introducing and serving this traditional dress will be an ideal place for them to drop in each time they come to Vietnam.

The advocate of this centre is Lan Huong. Starting business as a wedding dress designer, she has deep passion for traditional Ao dai. That passion inspires her to be known outside the country with creative designs. She has recently been accompanied by the record silky Ao dai of 10m in length to take part in an exhibition held in the US. On November 14, Lan Huong acted as a designer for Miss Jewel contest.

Her latest collections are good examples. “Dragon and Phoenix” and “Colours of Spring” collections finely honour typical characters of Van Phuc silk village and Thuong Tin embroidery village.

Together with the Ao dai centre, a typical village is to be established in Bac Ninh, one of the cradles of Vietnamese culture. There, all artisans are to design Ao dai in a way that combines both traditional and modern features.
