MCST: Holding a hand-over meeting of press agencies under the Ministry

April 18th, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the hand-over meeting of press agencies under the Ministry.

Attending the meeting has: Nguyen Danh Thai –Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; To Van Dong – Chief of the Secretariat of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and representatives from press Agencies under the Ministry

At the meeting, Chief of the Secretariat - To Van Dong reported a preliminary overview of operation situation of press Agencies under the Ministry. He put forward gained achievements and existing problems faced by press Agencies.

In the last few years, the press has completed its tasks well as an information channel on policies of the Party and the State; Ministries and Industries; and People, contributing to developing the cause of Culture, Sports and Tourism nationwide. Press Agencies have developed strongly and comprehensively with diversified forms, great quantity and high quality.

Beside that, certain existing problems should be overcome such as: information on the press haven’t yet updated in line with practical demands; contents haven’t been changed plentifully; the number of press publication hasn’t been subject to potentiality; information provision for press agencies under the Ministry in which hasn’t been paid much interest; sometimes press agencies haven’t created a favorable condition for accessing exact information on happening events and activities.

Leaders of press agencies under the Ministries also gave their own ideas on building a speech mechanism and information provision for the press promptly.

After delegates presented their own opinions, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Thai affirmed: press agencies’ tasks are very great, not only serving the propaganda work of the Ministry but also reflecting the nation’s great issues. Therefore, press agencies should strengthen their staff organization work; focus on managing information contents in accordance with targets and regulations of Press Law and assigned political tasks.

The Deputy Minister directed General Department of Propaganda to be a key point which experts on providing information for the press, especially information related to the Ministry’s activities and great events. The hand-over meeting of the Ministry’s Leader and press agencies under the Ministry is carried out regularly once two months.
