Ha Long Bay – Brightening friendship

Ha Long Bay is also a spring of pearls brightening friendship. On 22^nd November 1962, Uncle Ho along with a heroic Russian pilot, called “Titop” visited Ha Long Bay. They went swimming in the sea and the pilot loved this scenery with green sea-water and peaceful atmosphere there. To memorize this event as a friendship mark between Vietnam - Soviet, Uncle Ho suggested the island’s name was replaced Hong Tu Thap with Titop. In summer, 1999, Ghecman Titop went back Ha Long, hugged the plate with his carved name and expressed his emotion ahead of the Vietnamese people’s soul and feelings.
