Twenty oil paintings created by artists Gina Intveen and Claudia Penroz, who work in a Chilean modern art style, are the first of their kind to be showcased in Vietnam.

The two-week exhibition entitled “The Chilean Woman in Colonial Times” is part of “Art Without Borders,” an international project to promote contemporary art and to create a forum for artists to discuss their work.

According to Carmen Gloria Matthei, curator of the Montecatini gallery in Chile, the exhibition will kick off its Asian tour in Vietnam and then carry on to South Korea and Singapore.

The paintings were on display in Guatemala last March and Bolivia last May in South America.

“I hope the paintings will offer Vietnam a glance at our culture through the exhibition,” said Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam, Jorge Canelas.

The exhibition will run until November 22 at 1A Le Thi Hong Gam Street, District 1.
