With the 15th Vietnam Film Festival in Nam Dinh getting set to take place, HCM City has received a decision to be the host of the 16th festival in 2009.
Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of Culture and Information - Mrs Nguyen The Thanh said that the Ministry of Information and Communications’ decision came several days before.
Thanh said that the city would begin preparing for the festival as of early 2008. The department will hold workshops to collect ideas about organising the event.
She said that HCM City hoped to create a national film festival that met regional organisational standards.
HCM City hosed the 6th festival 24 years ago, 1983, and this is the second time the event will come to the city.
